Paradise Lost

For the last several months, I have been hard at work with a talented group of students and faculty from Queen’s University DAN School of Drama and Music directing a production of Erin Shield’s Paradise Lost, opening next week at the beautiful Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Kingston, On.

It’s a big story, and a huge show. With a cast of seventeen, a wonderful, inventive set, gorgeous and detailed handmade costumes, and a live sound design, we bring Shield’s wickedly funny, contemporary retelling of John Milton’s epic poem to the stage. Biblical time, the seventeenth century, and a 1990’s warehouse party intertwine in our production, turning heaven and hell upside down in an irreverent, feminist take on the one of the scaffolding stories of western literature and cosmology.  I’m super proud of the work the student acting ensemble, production and design team, and can’t wait to share it with audiences starting next week.
