some news (about SPIN and other things)

After a (pandemic-sized) pause, SPIN is going back on the road this fall, for a short tour in Ontario. We are so glad to get to perform it again! So much has happened since last we sang these songs and played the bicycle for you on a stage…but, in these times of rising climate emergency, social and political crisis around the world, perhaps the lowly/mighty bicycle has never been more relevant.  Riding a bike never gets old!  The brilliant, two wheeled invention of the 1890’s that continues to offer such an eternally elegant way to explore the world under your own steam…..which we will sing all about in the show.

In other SPIN news, this fall, the brilliant filmmaker Tess Girard and I will be shooting a short film of The Ballad of Annie Londonderry. Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Now fund for making our dreams come true! More updates soon about when it will be released in 2024.

In the meantime, this summer I am finishing my Masters Degree at Queen’s University in Cultural Studies.  Another post on that a little later…now back to work on my thesis.
