Thanksgiving weekend is full of shows!
This is the last weekend to see Obaaberima at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto. I am soooo proud of this show, and we’re all so very pleased that the reviews have been so universally wonderful: you can check out what the critics have to say, but better yet, come and see it for yourself before it closes on October 7th. This is the kind of story you don’t often get to see on any stage, anywhere: Tawiah M’carthy is a unique and wonderful performer, with a very special and important story to tell.

Imprisoned in Canada for committing a violent crime, a young man from Ghana tells his cellmates a story on the eve of his release. Although there is great risk in sharing his tale, he must tell it to be truly free. Through storytelling, dance, and live music, Obaaberima chronicles a young African-Canadian’s journey across continents, genders, races, and sexualities.

We are doing a new version of SPIN, tailored especially for younger audiences. We’re thrilled that HarbourKids Festival at Harbourfront is presenting SPIN for kids all weekend, and yowza: it’s free! Shows on Saturday Oct 6, Sunday Oct 7, and Monday Oct 8, at 1:30 and 3:30 pm daily. In addition to shortening the whole show down to 40 minutes (quite a feat), I have managed to write a brand new song…you can check out the lyrics here: special preview for you!
