This Dec 11th and 12th at 7:30 pm, Theatre Passe Muraille presents a workshop presentation of the latest edition of the Age of Melting project, this time featuring the interviews and findings from the trip to Churchill MB that Elysha Poirier and I made in June 2015. This presentation is part of the TPM “Buzz Series” of new work.
We have a new dream-team of artists working with us to create the new work: Cris Derksen, Erin Brubacher, Charles Ketchabaw, Elizabeth Kantor and stage manager Aidan Morishita-Mikki.
We are working in hybrid theatre / music / radio form. Part one is inspired by Glenn Gould’s contrapuntal CBC radio doc “The Idea of North” from 1967…50 years later, we took the train to Churchill, following in his footsteps, and interviewed people about what the North means to Canada. The second part of the show is the part some of you may have seen before, my remake of Stan Roger’s song Northwest Passage, exploring how the Franklin expedition, my family folk music tradition and the human nervous system all intersect….come be part of the process of us weaving many threads together….
Huge thanks and acknowledgement to the Canada Council for the Arts and to Theatre Passe Muraille in making this project possible.
