“Equally funny and dangerous”CBC Radio

Award-winning songwriter, poet and ironic social commentator evalyn parry is gifted with a sharp pen, a quirky musical sensibility and a wicked sense of humour. From 19th century cycling heroines to 21st century sailors; from ‘feminine protection’ to bottled water to the quest for the Northwest Passage, evalyn’s outspoken creations hold out a powerful vision of social and personal change, while her irreverent wit holds nothing sacred.

M is for Montreal, Mayworks Festival and Melting

I’m sitting on the bus, heading to Montreal for a show tomorrow night at Petit Campus, with the wonderful PEI singer-songwriter Teresa Doyle.  You know how I love the bus –  I don’t know why, but I do. Not as much as the train, of course – but honestly it’s a close second.   So much [...]

this month i’m directing a play…

I’ve been working with playwright / performer Tawiah M’Carthy on his one man show “Obaaberima” over the last couple years: it grew out of Buddies’ Young Creators Unit, and it’s a beautiful, brave, poetic and challenging piece of theatrical storytelling. This December 8-10, it will have three “workshop presentations” at Buddies, and I hope you can come see and share in our process of development.
